Bio:

Dr. Ket Verma is well-known to the Department of Neurosurgery, having completed his neurosurgical residency and spine fellowship at VCU. Dr. Verma’s clinical focus lies in degenerative spine, though he enjoys treating a variety of complex neurosurgical disorders to include brain tumors, trauma, and Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH). His clinical research focuses on complications within the field of spinal surgery and best practices for surgical management. He has presented his findings at multiple national meetings and has won several awards at both the local and national levels.

Dr. Verma was born and raised in New Delhi, India, immigrating to Phoenix, Arizona at the age of thirteen. During high school, he won a prestigious scholarship to study Pre-Medicine at Corpus Christi College in Oxford, England. He received his undergraduate degree from The University of Arizona where he double majored in Physiology and Business. He then earned his medical degree from the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Tucson. Dr. Verma first visited Richmond, VA for his neurosurgery residency interview at which time he knew for certain that he had found his new home. He recalls Match Day as one of the happiest days of his life, knowing that he would have the opportunity to complete residency in a program that felt like family. Having developed strong relationships with his co-residents and mentors during his seven-year residency at VCU, Dr. Verma decided to stay in Richmond and join the VCU Neurosurgery team to serve the community that he now calls home. Outside of the operating room, Dr. Verma enjoys trying new restaurants, playing racquetball, watching the latest movie, TV show or cricket match, and spending time with his wife and their bichon poodle.
