In collaboration with VCU Massey Cancer Center, our multidisciplinary brain tumor program includes neurosurgeons, neuro-oncologists, radiation oncologists and other health care providers who specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of brain and spinal cord tumors.
In addition to conventional treatment approaches, we’re proud to utilize state-of-the-art technologies and innovative surgical methods to treat central nervous system tumors. Our treatment modalities include:
- Image-guided tumor surgery
- Laser interstitial thermal therapy
- Molecular therapy for brain tumors
- Stereotactic radiosurgery
Education
In the Department of Neurosurgery’s highly selective training program, residents are directly involved in brain tumor surgical procedures, along with patient diagnosis and management. They also attend a weekly tumor board with all members of the team. We encourage residents with a special interest in brain tumor neurosurgery to pursue surgical neuro-oncology fellowships after completing our seven-year program.
