Brain tumor program

Each year, nearly 50,000 Americans are diagnosed with symptomatic brain tumors and thousands more develop tumors involving the spine and spinal cord. The multispecialty Neuro-oncology Clinic is an outpatient facility where patients can see not only a team of physicians that specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of brain and spinal cord tumors, but also other cancer specialists from VCU Massey Cancer Center.

Treatment modalities

In addition to conventional treatment approaches, significant emphasis is placed on clinical studies. The Neuro-oncology Clinic is a site for a variety of multicenter clinical trials directed at these tumors. The program uses advanced imaging, 3-D image reconstruction and state-of-the-art technologies to allow for image-guided surgical treatment of central nervous system tumors.

  • Image-guided tumor surgery
  • Molecular therapy for brain tumor
  • Multispecialty brain tumor care
  • Skull base tumor surgery
  • Trilogy radiosurgery
